Whispers of Spring: Prairie Crocus

Crocuses have long been one of my favourite subjects. Not only are they the first wildflower to bloom each spring, but they were also the first wildflower I photographed sparking my interest in wildflowers.

For the last few years, I’ve been able to create some creative photos, but it always leaves me wondering how to shoot them next.

Of course I also shot many in my standard way, and I hope to shoot more still in the weeks ahead.

There was also a bit of experimentation with in-camera double exposures. I layered a long exposure with a short exposure of the same flower with the goal of creating a sort of ethereal feeling image that is kind of wispy with details still showing through.

A double exposure layered with a photo of the environment the flower was found in.
