Map of Manitoba provincial forests

Provincial forests are crown land. While they are somewhat protected places, resource extraction such as logging, gravel pits, and mining may take place on these lands. Provincial forests such as Sandilands have extensive trail systems. You may go camping in these areas, but don’t expect amenities or anything more than rough gravel roads.

Map of Manitoba Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs)

WMAs are slightly more protected than provincial forests. These areas are preserved for plant and animal conservation and human recreation. Some will have trails, many won’t.
